Roundup of the Masters Swimming Tasmania Summer Championships 2023

The recently completed Masters Swimming Tasmania Summer Championships saw 6 Austrlian, 8 Victorian and 27 Tasmanian records broken at the meet.
One of the highligts of the meet was Victorian Jennie Bucknell’s 100m freestyle where her time of 1:02.12 was just ten one hundreths of a second off the world record.

Another day, another meet for a few Tasmanina Masters swimmers. Less than a week after the Tasmanina Masters Summer championships a Swimming Tasmania Qualifying time trial presented the latest racing opportunity. Two new Tasmanian records and a great opportunity to hone racing skills – for Gabrielle Osborne, James Belstead, Costan Magnussen and Maciej Slugocki. Top MST Record Breakers of 2022
The top Maters Swiming Tasmania record breaker for 2023 was Maciej Slugocki from the Tomatoes Masters Swimming Club. Maciej broke a remarkable 54 Tasmanina records during the year. All together there were 150 Tasmanian records broken during the year 102 of which were in World Aquatrics recognised events. Joing Maciej on the record table for 2022 were 24 other members of whom, Katryn Osborn, James Belstead, and Megan Stronach all broke in excess of 10 records for the year.

A look back at 2022 reveals the dominant performances of two Masters Swimmers in Tasmania – Amanda Duggan of the Hobart Dolphins MSC and Maciej Slugocki from the Tomatoes MSC.
Amanda secured the first two highest quality performances for 2022 in her 800 and 1500 freestyle events. Maciej Slugocki was the best performed male. Amanda’s best four swim all secured over 800 World Aquatics swimming points while Maciej’s best secured two.

Masters at the Swimming Tasmania Qualifying Time Trials – 21 January 2023.
The 2nd Masters Swimming Tasmania and Swimming Tasmania jointly sanctioned meet was held in Launceston at the Leisure and Aquatic Centre on Saturday 21 January.
The Devonport, Burnie, Launceston and Tomatoes Masters swimming clubs were represented by four of their members.
